“Unexpressed emotions will never die. They are buried alive and will come forth later in uglier ways.”       ― Sigmund Freud

Repression is the ability to supress a thought, feeling, or desire in oneself so that is becomes or remains unconscious. It is act that is subconscious and allows us to act and go through the day without the extreme emotions that may follow us.

My current body of work looks at the layers of emotions that we are unconsciously hiding away until a stressful incident. The paint becomes the medium of the emotions that we may feel and it becomes layered till we are unable to see what the beginning looked like, and the explosions that can happen once those emotions become uncontrollable. This series has been inspired by Jackson Pollock, Ian Davenport, Bruce Riley and Sigmund Freud.
